Hundreds Turn Up For Telbru Cycling Race

Bandar Seri Begawan - Hundreds of cyclists took part in the 2010 TeIBru Cycling Race yesterday which kicked off at its headquarters at the Old Airport, Berakas.
The event was held in conjunction with the company's 4th anniversary celebration.
The competition was divided into the competitive team, competitive ladies individual and expedition categories.
A total of nine teams comprising cyclists from the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources and other various TeIBru corporate vendors and partners.
Among the teams that took part together with TelBru cyclists were MI PR Spinners, BIBD, Baiduri Bank, HSBC and BLNG.
Non-competitive category also saw hundreds of free-and-easy cyclists from TelBru and the public taking part for a scenic journey covering a distance of 50km.
The event was launched by Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Awang HajiAbu Bakar, Minister of MIPR, who also participated in the race.
For over a distance of 70km, the men's competitive category saw team BLNG emerge as champions taking the chequered flag ahead of teams Power Bar and Accelerate who came in second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, in the 22-km ladies individual category, Melissa Woo came first followed by Hjh Juridah and Nur Salinah Amalina.
The event, which was supported by Brunei Darussalam National Cycling Association (Persatuan Basikal Kebangsaan), was held for the second consecutive year.
The TelBru Cycling race was organised to cultivate a healthy balance among TeIBru staff, especially for its cycling enthusiasts and to foster closer relations among the TeIBru family together with its vendors, friends and associates from the ministries and corporate companies.
On hand to present the prizes to the winners was the guest of honour while Hjh Norlina Haji Abu Bakar was present to hand out certificates of appreciation to all the event sponsors for their generous contribution including the lucky draw give aways.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
Bandar Seri Begawan - Telbru's "Fun Around the Clock" Bazaar held in conjunction with the company's 4" anniversary came to an end with large crowds thronging Jerudong Park Amphitheatre yesterday.
"Every year, we want to create an event that is different from previous years. We chose Jerudong Park as our venue this year because of its strategic location -- our customers from Belait and Tutong District did not need to travel far," said Stuart Lee from TelBru, one of the organising committee members of the event.
He also said the bazaar saw the participation of over 35 TelBru privileged merchants who brought great deals and promotions to the public throughout the two-day event. With activities held for the young and old alike, TelBru 4 I] Bazaar featured events such as GHK Motor Roadshow, horse riding, magic shows, Let's Drive Mini games, b.mobile's 'Who's Got Talent 2', Laneige Mr/Miss Photogenic contest, grooming and safety demonstrations, and performances from local artistes.
A group of five cousins came down to the event just to see performances from the local artist and grab any `goodies' they could get. "We came to see the live bands and dance performances as well as to show our support to Bruneian artistes," said one of the teenage boys.
Throughout the weekend, performances from Maria, Feez Madea, The Seeds, A Band Once, MNC, Adi Rani, Aziz Harun, Juju and dance presentations'from Relentless Entertainment helped to enliven the atmosphere. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
