TelBru Conducts Community Works, Presents Donations to Pusat Bahagia
Saturday, 10th April 2010
Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) continued its ‘Let’s Give Back’ initiative yesterday through a day of community work at Pusat Bahagia, where 40 of its personnel toiled in the hot sun cleaning, repainting and conducting landscaping works on the centre’s premises in Kg Pulaie.
TelBru staff members gathered on Pusat Bahagia’s premises at 8.00am in morning to witness a presentation of TelBru goodie bags from Hjh Norliha Hj Abu Bakar, general manager of Corporate Affairs, to Hj Rosmadee Hj Mohd Daud, the second assistant director of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport’s Community Development Department.
The volunteers kick-started the day with the planting of flowers and plants around the building’s compound, which was followed by the repainting of worn-out walls in several parts of the building before proceeding to clean the surau. Prayer mats and dividers were also donated, whilst another in-kind contribution, a 2.5 horsepower air-conditioner, was also installed in the centre’s computer laboratory.
A general clean-up of the building’s premises ensued before the day ended.
‘Let’s Give Back’ is a corporate social responsibility effort involving community works, donations and in-kind contributions to 11 charities nationwide over the course of 11 months. Each month, TelBru volunteers will visit one charity to provide it with what it needs most to sustain operations and make its centres or offices a better place to work, learn or play.
‘Let’s Give Back’, launched with a view of helping members of the society who need it most, is part of ‘Let’s Drive’, TelBru’s customer loyalty event for 2010. Lim Ming Soon, the general manager of Product Development, Marketing and Sales Division and advisor for the campaign, said, “while we will be having fun with our valued customers during ‘Let’s Drive’, our main event for the year, we are not forgetting the less fortunate ones with ‘Let’s Give Back”.
The campaign began in February, when TelBru lent a helping hand to the Brunei-Muara branch of the Association of Handicapped Children of Brunei Darussalam (KACA), and will continue until December 2010.
